VENUE: Phelan Library
This series of conversations is inspired by James Duval Phelan’s participation in the San Francisco-based Chit-Chat Club. Founded in 1874, members met monthly for dinner followed by a presentation and discussion. These talks will explore key topics central to Montalvo’s ongoing mission and plans for the future.
Choreographing Space
Sometimes the most transformative art experiences are those where the artist collaborates with a physical space, responding – like a dancer – to the mood, shape and feel of the setting. Barbara Goldstein, Director of Public Art, San Jose’s Office of Cultural Affairs, in conversation with Pamela Z, composer, performer and sound artist, will explore the possibilities of creating an art program at Montalvo that builds on its topography and landscape.
