Visual artist Weston Teruya works primarily in drawing and sculpture. In his work, he reconfigures the arrangements of images and objects from the built environment to examine how they shape social relationships and imagine how those dynamics might be transformed. His artwork has been shown at Patricia Sweetow Gallery, Intersection for the Arts, the de Saissett Museum and the di Rosa Preserve. Weston was the recipient of the inaugural Oliver Ranch Studio Artist Residency and the 2009 Artadia award.
Teruya was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai’i, and currently resides in the San Francisco Bay Area. He received an MFA in Painting and Drawing and MA in Visual & Critical Studies from California College of the Arts. In addition to his artistic practice, he is a current member of Southern Exposure’s curatorial committee.
